2012 Australian Pool Rescue Championships

Posted on 19/08/2012

17th – 19 August

The national event was held here in Adelaide at the YMCA Marion Aquatic and Leisure Centre and it was pleasing to see a group of 10 members represent Henley, finishing 29th overall.  It was an exciting and unique experience for them to compete against the best pool competitors from around the country.

Our competitors certainly gave us all something to cheer about as they participated in events such as the 100m and 200m Obstacle Race, 4 x 50m Obstacle Race, 100m Line Throw Relay, 50m Brick Carry, 100m Manikin Tow without fins, 100m Patient Tow without fins, 50m Swim No Fins, 50m Swim with Fins, 200m 4 x 50m Medley Relay.

There were several highlights with the girls Medley team winning silver and the boys picking up a bronze in the Line Throw Relay.   An impressive highlight was Josh Smith swimming a time of 19.65seconds in the 50m with fins event to hold the Australian Record only to have it snatched away in the final heat when another swimmer beat his time by swimming 19.28seconds.   Oh so close!

Our medallists this year at the Australian Pool Titles were:

11-12 Years Female 4x50m Medley Relay: Lauren Daly, Emma Dorward, Siobhan Roe, Maeve Moroney-Plouffe
