As everyone will have seen, our new building is progressing well and while we don’t have a definite finish date yet, we expect to be given the keys toward the end of June or into July. We then fit the building out with furniture, equipment racking etc ready to move in.
The project remains within budget and is being overseen by officers from SAFECOM as representatives of the Minister For Emergency Services, and Project Managed by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure. Given this level of supervision and control it was interesting to hear a rumour recently that ‘we’ had run out of funds and could not afford to finish the project. That is far from the truth and there are no financial issues at all. This next few weeks will require a great deal of planning and work to be done and the Building Committee may call for some helpers along the way, so watch this space.
Congratulations - Aussies Competitors
Congratulations to all our competitors who represented the Club at the recent Australian Championships. Surf conditions were testing at times – especially for the Masters early in the week.
Huge congratulations to Lindy Fourier who won Gold in her Beach Flags event, and bronze in her Beach Sprint. It’s a long time since one of our members came home as an Australian Champion – or dual medallist for that matter.
