WANTED: Age Group Leaders
Did you know that you don’t need to be a parent to be involved?

THE ROLE

As an Age Group Leader, you need to be a committed and responsible person to act as a leader, mentor, organiser and role model for the children in your care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with the Training Manager and SLSSA materials to train and educate an age group of Henley Juniors in

lifesaving skills and beach safety. In the case of Under 9s and above, prepare the age group for competition. This involves:

  • Weekly Saturday training sessions from 2 – 4pm.

  • Working with the Competition Manager, you manage your age group at four SLSSA Sunday Carnivals and SLSSA Junior State Carnivals.

  • Ensure juniors have fun while they are introduced to varying surf lifesaving activities.

  • Ensure juniors are adequately prepared for competition in team and individual events at SLSSA Carnivals. 

TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

All Age Group Leaders must:

  • Complete an online Age Manager’s course through SLSA (approx. 1 – 2 hours).

  • Undergo a Police Check if over 18 years.

  • If you are 14 to 17 years you must have your SRC.

  • Bronze Medallion is not compulsory, however we aim to have 1 AGL per group with this award.

SUPPORT & MENTORS

You will not be required to work alone. Each age group will have a number of Age Group Leaders, both male & female, who support each other and share the responsibilities. Support is also available from the Training Officer, Competition Officer and Junior Operations Manager.
