Overview:

The aim of the Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate course is to develop CPR skills and knowledge enabling participants to operate all aspects of oxygen equipment, airway management devices, suction devices and automated external defibrillators on both conscious and unconscious casualties.

Audience:

Suitable for members 13+ years old, and members with limited water skills/ability. Advanced Resuscitation is an important skill necessary at every beach patrol.

Pre-requisites:

Members need to be a minimum of 13 years of age on the day of the final assessment.
Have a current CPR Certificate
Content:

Aims of first aid
The cardiovascular system
Defibrillation
Oxygen Equipment
Suction
Duration:

Approximately 8-12 hours of training followed by a separate assessment.

Timing:

Courses are generally conducted several times a year depending on member requests and trainer availability.

PUAEME003C Administer oxygen in an emergency situation
PUAOPE010C Operate an automated external defibrillator in an emergency

Currency:

To remain current an annual proficiency update (approximately 1.5 hours) is required.
