It’s December, a traditional time for family, community and gratitude.
Consistent with the season, here at Henley Surf Lifesaving Club we’re feeling all warm and cuddly about our supporters and grant providers.
As a not-for-profit organisation, we’re very grateful to these sources who ensure we are able to maintain vital lifesaving skills and provide services for our community as well as improvements to our clubroom
Thank you so much to the following organisations over recent years, and into the future.
Government of SA Office for Recreation Sport and Racing (ORSR) – Active Club Program (Round 52) 2023-24
The Government of South Australia through the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing (ORSR) supports clubs to further develop programs and services provided in the community. Henley SLSC was successful in applying for an Active Club Grant. This funding of $3000 enabled the club to purchase pool rescue training equipment, service and repair gym equipment and purchase some additional gym equipment. This funding also assisted in purchase hi-viz rashies for the Wiltja Indigenous program.
Government of SA South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM)
The State Government is committed to community safety and to support Surf Life Saving Clubs. Henley SLSC has received funding in both the SAFECOM 2022/23 and 2023/24 round of Grants. The funding of $5500 from each of these Grants was received during 2023/24, and allowed us to purchase new rescue boards, new TV equipment (for visual training requirements to maintain lifesaving skills) and a new trailer for board storage and transport.
RAA Group Grassroots Giving Community Grant
RAA Group provides not-for-profit community groups with funding to assist with projects that may support youth development, to support and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and reconciliation activities, reducing inequality in the community and support community safety. Henley SLSC has received funding of $4127 towards the club’s inclusive programs. Hi-viz vests for the ‘Snippers” program and hi-viz rashies for the Wiltja indigenous program will be seen on the beach during this season.
Surf Life Saving Australia – Beach Safety Equipment Fund 2023/24
Henley SLSC was fortunate to receive $11,000 in vital equipment through the Australian government’s Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) Beach Safety Equipment Fund. This has resulted in the following additions to club equipment:
- resuscitation training equipment
- a rack for the patrol All Terrain Vehicle (ATV)
- rescue boards and tubes
- a mobile first aid table
- replacement pads for training defibrillators
- first aid supplies.
Henley SLSC thanks the Australian government for providing the funding through SLSA.
SLSA has also secured bipartisan support from both major parties to continue this funding from 2024/25 through to 2025/26. We look forward to using this for other vital safety equipment through this period.
SA Power Networks Grant
The SA Power Networks Grant funded Henley SLSC to enable the overdue replacement of a faulty inverter. Installed and tested during October, the highly-welcomed inverter will allow improvements to the energy efficiency of the clubroom.
Australian Government – Department of Industry, Science and Resources, Energy Efficiency Grant for Small and Medium Enterprises (Round 2) SA
The club was successful in applying for a grant to go towards the replacement of traditional lighting throughout the clubroom with energy efficient LED lighting. This project will take place over a number of months, to be completed during 2025.
