Can you name an athlete who steps back from competing for ten years, and then makes a triumphant return to clean sweep her field?
We can: Becca Woods from Henley Surf Lifesaving Club.
Becca won every event in the 30-34 age group at South Australia’s Masters’ surf lifesaving championships held recently at Christies Beach.
Over the weekend of International Women’s Day 2025, Becca won:
- Gold in 2K
- Gold in sprints
- Gold in flags
- Gold in swim
- Gold in board
- Gold in ski
- Gold in iron woman.
She also achieved:
- Silver in swim team and ski relay
- Bronze in board rescue and taplin.
But Becca is a legend at Henley not just because of her sporting prowess.
A member since 2003, and having moved up through the age-group ranks as a nipper, Becca now invests numerous hours developing our young adults in surf and leadership skills. She patrols many hours each season, and contributes sponsorships to support issues she cares about.
All this while being a parent, a partner, and a local real estate superstar.
