Restaurant News….Our new head chef – Paul McCulloch, has now joined the team at Henley and we are excited to have him on board! Keep an eye out for our winter menu at the end of April, as well as our winter wine list.
Please remember to book the club well in advance if you want to use it for anything – especially if they want to book a training course or meeting on the weekend.
…. and if you use it during the week, please reset the furniture. Thanks!
On The Same Wave News
Our new swimmers have taken to the water like fish. Every week there is improvement in swimming and board paddling which brings wide smiles and a sense of achievement to our participants. We have started learning about signals and CPR. As the weather cools down we have plans to continue with Bronze Medallion training and keep up with swimming. Our aim is for these men and women to join patrols in the 2016/2017 season. We meet on the beach at 10am every Saturday and anyone is welcome to join or assist us and share their skills and socialise.
If anyone is able to donate old rashies or wetsuits we will gratefully accept. Please contact Shannon on 0417 273 744 for collection.
While the season is winding down, our plan is to work through winter. I know you will all make our new friends welcome.

The Henley Juniors’ season has finished with a strong performance at the Junior State Championships at Somerton on 12 and 13 March. There were some great results produced by our relatively small group. Congratulations to all competitors on displaying excellent sportsmanship and giving it your all. We look forward to welcoming the Under 8s to competition next year and wish our Under 13s luck as they head into Seniors.
Many thanks to those who have helped with the Junior Program. From Kiosk, Age Group Leaders, Officials and Coaches right through to Water Cover, Clothing and BBQ, we couldn’t do it without our many volunteers.

A moment with MattyGSo, MattyG, congratulations on your gold medal at State Titles. Anyone you’d like to thank for your success?
Well, obviously my lovely fiance, Emma C. has been instrumental in my success, but I’d also like to thank True Grit for preparing me both mentally and physically for a tough surf boat season. If I hadn’t volunteered at True Grit, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
Wow, big wrap for volunteering at True Grit. Tell me more about it?
Well, it is an awesome event to be involved in. The club raises heaps of money, we get fed, we get to run the course for free. There’s free food and loads of free t-shirts. We camp on the river flat for a couple of nights and have a big camp fire. If we are really lucky, Beck Forest will do some baking again…..
MattyG, you are giving this thing a big tick of approval. How do I get involved?
It is on the weekend of 6th and 7th May at Waikerie in the Riverland. We travel up on Friday and then provide water cover and obstacle marshalling on Saturday and Sunday. If you want more info, come and see me between sets in the gym or shoot a text to 0475 790 104.
Any final words MattyG?
Yep, get involved with True Grit, it’s good for you, good for the club and good for surf life saving.
