– Get on board the Training train! –
Bronze & SRC
Roy is continuing with Bronze and SRC training over the weekends.
Currently with small groups,
Up until four weeks ago, Roy had not stopped since October, at times running two groups simultaneously.
Big effort.
ART
Stefan and Bianca have been running two ART (Advanced Resuscitation Technique) concurrently over the past five weeks.
The final assessment for the two groups will be over the next week for the nine members.
Great effort with these groups.
IRB Crew
The IRB crew course has been run on Saturday mornings – so far all training has been in front of the Henley SLSC.
They will be assessed at Middleton on Saturday 1 April, in the surf.
Chris Fuller is one of the trainers and is doing a great job with his experience in IRB & Jet Boats.
Spinal Management
The spinal management course is only over 8 hours.
This was completed over two weeks and is assessed in-house.
The practical training took some time as the sun was well set before the final (training) patient was removed from the water.
There will be another Spinal course run soon as it would be ideal for have each patrol with a Spinal Manager.
SMAR
Tim Cavanagh and Cooper Forest will be attending the SMAR course (Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue) this weekend at Port Noarlunga.
It’s a very physical and demanding course. They will be spending hours in the water practising search techniques and rescues.
The course also includes walking through sand hills at night to conduct a grid search.
It’s a very satisfying course to complete as these skills are core to Surf Life Saving.
Training Officer Bronze Medallion
At the last Bronze Medallion course assessed at Henley SLSC there were three members be assessed and passed as Bronze Training Officers.
- Laura Cassidy
- Bianca Parker
- Chris Fuller
This is great achievement by these three members.
They have put their time in to training Bronze/SRC groups over this season and assisted a lot of people to become lifesavers.
Courses to be conducted in the near future:
- Spinal Management
- IRB Crew
- IRB Drivers
