Well it’s been quite a busy few weeks since the AGM and taking the reins from Phil Hogan. A huge thank you goes out to Phil for his last two years as President, his dedication and commitment has helped to make Henley the club it is today. Phil can now relax and enjoy the fruits of his labour, and should be very proud of everything he has achieved.
This year’s AGM saw a number of key roles filled by female club members, in particular across the Operations Committee. We now have a great balance across the club and a number of members stepping into committee roles for the first time, including Joey Loielo as First Aid Officer, Cooper Forest as Youth Advisor, Kirsty Rawlings as Social Coordinator and Hannah Kitchen as Web Master. We are still seeking volunteers to head up our Ski and Board areas. Should anyone be interested in those important roles, please talk to myself or Peter Oborn.
There is also a new role that has been created specifically to assist our members – Club Complaint Handler/Child Safe Club Officer which will be held by Roy Menner. This role is an initiative developed by SLSSA to offer club members someone to turn to should they encounter distress or conflict arising from their involvement in surf lifesaving, be it in relation to another member, an officer or an employee and the encounter warrants further investigation by the club or SLSSA.
In addition to this role, Henley has our Club Chaplain, Bruce Rankin, who is always available to counsel our members in any matters, be it personal or club related and is supported by our three Grievance Officers – Tayla Page, Steve Horsman and Tim Cavanagh.
A summary of all the new club Officers and their contact details will be updated and available on the Henley website in addition to a list that will be posted on the notice board in the corridor of the equipment shed.
NEW CLUB CORE VALUES
A team of Henley club members came together last month to form a workshop with the intent to develop a set of core values that will now be the platform for our club culture moving forward. Expertly facilitated by Rebecca Codd, the group were able to clarify what was important to our club members and identified the following key behaviour and shared values they see as being the core of our overall club culture.
The outcome is a now shared vision and the start of our journey to instill these core values into all we do at the Henley Surf Life Saving Club.
Henley members will start to see these core values promoted around the club and I would like to personally thank Rebecca Codd for leading this workshop and to the following club members who all contributed to this important process… Chris Fuller, Paul Martin, Megan Tudor, Bruce Rankin, Nicole Carey, Shannon Asa, Beck Forest, Steve Forest, Gary Tredrea, Grantley Anderson, Roy Menner, Kirsty Rawlings, Steve Parker, Peter Oborn, Carly Lutze and Kevin Fitzgerald.
