What membership is right for me?

Whether you want to patrol as a lifeguard, compete in surf lifesaving, support your child, be a social member or all of the above, Henley SLSC offers a range of memberships:

Junior Membership

Incorporates the sub-categories of:

• Tots (5-6 years of age): $150.00 (includes 1 x parent/ guardian General membership)

• Junior (7-17 years of age): $200.00 (includes 1 x parent/ guardian General membership)

A Junior Activity Member shall be a person who shall be a minimum age of five (5) years up to a maximum age of seventeen (17) years.
Membership includes:

• access to all Junior training sessions,
• all local branch competition entry fees under Surf Life Saving South Australia (does not include state competitions, and pool competition),
• includes auto-registration of one (1) guardian per child General Membership status free of charge (guardian must be related to the junior), and
• includes one (1) Henley surf cap.

The key focus for five and six-year-old Junior Activity Members will be play-participation and fun. Guidelines which support this focus will include:

• beach activities that emphasise games and group activities,
• water activities to be limited to shallow water near the water’s edge, and.
• no competition for these age groups other than that involved in fun games.

Active Membership

Incorporates the sub-categories of:

Active Membership Adult (18+): $270.00 [new bronze medallion holders]
Active Membership Adult (18+): $220.00 [renewing]

• be a Bronze Medallion holder,
• fulfil patrol and Club obligations, as provided by SLSA and the Member’s Club constitution, and
• qualify in an annual proficiency test unless the Member has obtained their Bronze Medallion in that season.

Reserve Active Membership: $220.00

Reserve Active Membership may be granted by a Club to Active Members who have satisfactorily completed (from the gaining of the Bronze Medallion) at least eight (8) years of patrol and Club obligations as provided by SLSA and Club constitution.

• Reserve Active Membership shall not be automatic but shall be granted by resolution of the appropriate club body.
• Reserve Active Members shall perform a minimum of patrols in each Affiliated Club where they hold Reserve Active Membership, as required by SLSA and further patrol duties at the discretion of the Affiliated Club/s management, and
• Reserve Active Members shall complete the annual proficiency test.

Note:  Reserve Active membership may be granted, under exceptional circumstances to Active Members irrespective of years of service.

Award Membership: $220.00

Award Membership may be granted by a Club to persons who hold an SLSA award of one, or more, of the following qualifications: – Surf Rescue Certificate, Radio award/s, Resuscitation Certificate, Advanced Resuscitation Certificate or First Aid Certificate (or equivalent),

• Such Members may be called upon to perform patrol and/or other club obligations within the ability of their qualifications, and
• An Affiliated Club may grant an Award Member voting rights to that Affiliated Club if they are undertaking lifesaving patrol duties.

Community Membership

Incorporates the sub-categories of:

General Parent/ guardian Membership: $50.00

General Membership may be granted by a Club to persons who may or may not hold an SLSA award.

• General Members shall not have Affiliated Club voting rights unless elected to office or position which is provided with voting rights by the relevant Club constitution.
• General Members shall have privileges as determined by the respective State Centre.
• General member participation can include, but is not restricted to:
  • Junior member parents
  • Volunteers (Age Group Leader, Community & Diversity programs or water cover activities)
  • Trainers and Assessors
  • Coaches and Team Managers
  • Officials
  • Club Administration

This membership excludes:

• Use of club equipment without supervision
• Use of Club facilities (showers and general locker room)
• Patrols
• Competition
• Access to the gym
• Fobs or access to the building outside of normal operating hours, unless approved by the Board of Management.

Community Social Supporter Membership: $50.00

This membership category is for members who are community members, involved with the club in a social capacity, and are not required to participate directly in lifesaving activities.

• Community Membership may be granted by a Club to persons who may or may not hold an SLSA award,
• Community Members shall not have Affiliated Club voting rights unless elected to office or position, which is provided with voting rights by the relevant Affiliated Club constitution,
• Activities of Community members can include, but are not restricted to:
  • Club social events
  • Come and try / Family days
  • Outdoor fitness sessions facilitated by an Active member
  • Snippers program-must have a parent/ guardian register as well

This membership excludes:

• Use of club equipment without supervision
• Use of Club facilities (showers and general locker room)
• Patrols
• Competition
• Access to the gym
• Fobs or access to the building outside of normal operating hours, unless approved by the Board of Management.

Snippers Membership: $75.00

The Henley SLSC snipper program is a modified junior program for children with special needs. The program runs on Saturdays alongside the Nippers program and is open to all children and families.

This program requires a minimum of one (1) guardian per child registration as general membership registration – this is an additional cost to the members of $50.00

Honorary/Service Membership

Includes the sub-categories of:

Long Service Membership $220

Long Service Membership may be granted by a Club to Members who have completed ten (10) years active service or to Members who have completed eight (8) years active service plus four (4) years reserve active service.

Such Members may be exempted from all patrol obligations and may be granted other special privileges of Membership as provided in their Club constitutions.

Should such Members join another Affiliated Club, the receiving Affiliated Club shall determine if such Member’s Long Service shall be recognised by that Affiliated Club.

Honorary Membership $0

Honorary Membership may be granted by a Club to persons who may or may not hold on SLSA award.

Life Membership $0

Life Membership of a Club may be granted by that Club to Members who have rendered distinguished, or special service as provided for in that Affiliated Club’s constitution.

 

Family Membership

A 15% Discount applies to all families registering  3 or more members at one time – must include at least one junior membership,

A capped amount is in effect at $750.00
